What's in a word?

Some of us may be in possession of those little fridge magnets that have meaningful messages or verses on them, and we put them on our fridges to glance at from time to time, others might have planks of wood or beautiful canvas paintings with scripture of God's precious word to us.  Some of the words can make us smile, other words bring a tear to the eye, and some are there as a constant reminder that someone is thinking about us.

Whatever the message may be, it will be there to serve its purpose by becoming embedded into our thoughts each time we walk past it we're reminded.  Some of us may even memorise the message or verse, keeping it close to our hearts and in our thoughts.

The words can bring comfort to us, joy to us and sometimes the words may even make us cry, but whichever it is, they will bring out many emotions.

"Whoever believes in me, as scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them."  John 7:38

These typical everyday emotions can also be found within words to a song and also words written in a story.  The writer of lyrics to a song, poetry or novel often use words and descriptions as an expression they themselves have experienced within their own lives.  They use these experiences because they want the reader or listener to be able to feel, sense, know and experience that same expression, whether it be a tear falling, a moment of laughter, or a feeling of yearning and desire.

Our own personal experiences of life can be a tool to use within song lyrics, poetry and writing novels, because they can appear more real and true, and hold a special meaning to a lot of people, as they are able to easily relate more to the meaning behind the words written down.  God can speak to us in many different ways, the closer you get to him, the more you will hear and learn from him.

You hear, but do you listen?

Admittedly every once in a while we can be hearing what someone's saying but actually not really taking it to heart, for various reason...
